Ian Nevin, Ireland
"Dún Laoghaire gets it's name from the
Irish Translation, Fort (Dún) of Laoghaire. King Laoghaire
was the ancient High King of Ireland before the Vikings arrived.
When the English came they renamed the town Dunlary (Dunleary) to
suit the English tongue. In 1821 it was renamed Kingstown byKing
George IV of England to honour his visit to the town that year.
It remained Kingstown through Victorian times until in 1921, one
year before independence, the town council voted to change the name
back to the ancient Irish name Dún Laoghaire"

"Donut City! - Well, Basingstoke town planners
just love roundabouts. When ever they come across a new road junction
they just have build a roundabout. - If there's not enough room
for one they paint a mini one on the road."

Holly Smith, USA
"Roanoke, Virginia, is known
as the "star city of the South,"a misnomer, as a hot Saturday
night means McDonald's and people-watching at the local Walmart.
Heavy bets go down on whether it will be "Fat Lady Night,"
"Screaming Baby Night," "Trailer Trash Night,"
"Ugly People Night," or "Redneck Night." We
do possess the world's largest man-made star, shining atop Mill
Mountain, however. It's an issue of hot debate as to why its color
is white, red, or red, white and blue on a particular night. And
for people who really want to tie one on, they can argue til dawn"

are known as the Salt City because the poor Irish immigrants came
here and worked in the salt mines. We also invented salt potatoes.
You cant find them anywhere else except Syracuse, NY. Thank You
